Conversion of a windrow composting facility
This year, a windrow composting facility was commissioned that had been modernized through the addition of active aeration and a semi-permeable membrane. The modernization became necessary for reasons of emission control. The applied process minimizes emissions, particularly odors: the membrane retains them, while microorganisms in the composting material biologically degrade them.
At the same time, an optimal air supply is ensured through aeration channels installed in the ground.A total of five windrows were retrofitted. The new composting technology was constructed and commissioned by UTV AG. The planning for all project phases was carried out vy pbo Ingewnieurgesellschaft. We are pleased that continued operation of the facility could thus be secured and that high-quality compost can continue to be produced in an energy-efficient and low-emission manner.
