Recyclables processing and sorting plant – WASA – at the Erfurt-Schwerborn landfill site

Project period

2008 until 2011

Client

SWE Stadtwirtschaft GmbH

Task and implementation

SWE Stadtwirtschaft GmbH already operated a processing plant for construction site waste on the site of the Erfurt-Schwerborn landfill. In 2008, they commissioned us with the planning and implementation of a recycling and sorting plant. The task was to integrate the old plant into the new one in a sensible way.

The WASA we designed offers a treatment capacity for commercial waste of approx. 70,000 Mg/a and approx. 10,000 Mg/a for light packaging. The waste is classified on site with the help of various aggregates and sorted into the fractions plastics, metals, wood, minerals, cardboard and paper. They can then be recycled or disposed of elsewhere, depending on their material properties and energy content.

Project data

  • Total capacity of approx. 80,000 Mg/a – of which
  • approx. 45,000 Mg/a for construction and commercial waste
