pbo is working on this important question on behalf of the Rhein-Kreis Neuss. Should the district’s approximately 100,000 tons of residual waste per year be transferred directly to thermal waste treatment in the future or will more recyclable materials (metals and plastics) be removed than in the past? Higher investment costs for a sorting plant are offset by rising incineration prices for residual waste. In addition to economic factors, the district also wants to include ecological factors in the assessment. A decision is expected at the beginning of 2024.
